Better Place

2020 was a tough year. We are about to celebrate American Thanksgiving. People celebrate that holiday in many ways and for many reasons. For me, it is a time to reflect on those things that I am most grateful for. Living a life filled with gratitude serves as a reminder of all the positive things in your life, even when things seem hopeless.      Even in a year when meeting new people seemed impossible, I found a way. Some I met during the lull in Covid cases at the end of spring. Others I met through mutual friends through online chats all over the country. Still others came from some online/small groups that I attended throughout the year.      One amazing thing that happened this year was that friends I had met earlier reached out to rekindle those friendships. Friendships ebb and flow. Never be surprised to see a friend come back after a long time. (I need to stop deleting them from my phone, that's too pessimistic!)   ...

Paris, My Love

Image
I have been watching a few shows which prominently feature scenes of Paris. Not long ago I was asking myself "when was the last time that I was happy?" It was when I was in Paris last year.       I never felt so free. I spent several days just doing anything that I pleased. I walked the cobblestone streets and ate magnificent foods. Everything that I had imagined about Paris was real. It was beautiful in every way. It was full of romance. Although I wandered the streets alone, being surrounded by romance reminded me that my time for romance shall come again.       I left Paris with hope in my heart and as I now spend most of my time alone I close my eyes and think of those moments in ...

El Monstruo

I adore Halloween. It won't be the same this year, but I'm still decorating the house and putting on some spooky tunes. 🎃      I have heard many versions of Monster Mash, but I really enjoyed this one! I hope that you do too. I will post a few more spooky selections this month.

Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?

As promised, another cover. This is by Karma Fields and Shey Baba. It's quite different. It actually illustrates my only complaint about millennials. They are too serious. I miss Boy George cheerfully dancing around while begging not to be emotionally destroyed by his lover.       Many cheerful sounding 80s songs were actually quite depressing. We liked it that way. Mask the misery. 99 Luftballons, yeah we're all gonna die. Every Breath You Take, hello stalker. 19, a serious commentary on the Vietnam War. Jump, sure jump off the building. Anything by Oingo Boingo or Devo, and many more. Bodies would crowd the dancefloor to these songs. Everything sucks and we are gonna dance.      Come on millennials, stop the down tempo stuff and dance with Gen X as the world implodes. 😉

Welcome Apocalypse

Image
Most of us are doing the best that we can during this time. I suspect this year will harm many people outside of actual Covid deaths. I fear that a massive mental health crisis will follow Covid. I also believe that this will last quite a bit longer than any of us thought it would. We may be forever changed as a society.      I have been a fan of Seattle based Assemblage 23 for many years. Industrial with hints of Depeche Mode influence. I really like his voice. Side projects include Surveillance and Helix. If you like this you may like the side projects as well.      If anyone can write about the range of emotions we have experienced this year, Tom can. Well done. A good listen for the apocalypse.

Ain't We Got Fun

We may be dealing with an entire year of Covid soon. I have found ways to have a little fun. I hope that you have too!

Love is a Stranger

I am slightly obsessed with music covers. Good, bad, or just weird, I'm in. I knew it wouldn't be long before I threw a cover on here!         This is a cover of an Eurythmics song from the 80s. One of the beautiful things about covers is that they introduce good songs to new generations of audiences. This cover plays nice in that the music type is similar to the original and it sounds good. I may not be as kind with the next cover.   ðŸ˜‰
